Local One mourns the loss of Brother John G. Green Sr., a true friend and advocate to the entire labor movement. Brother Green joined Local One in 1957 and since that time he has served on the Executive Board of the New York City Building Trades Council as well as Vice President of the New York State Building and Construction Trades Council. Brother Green also served as Vice President of the International Union of Elevator Constructors. Brother Green also served Local One as an elected official more than a quarter of a century, elected Business Agent in 1974 and elected President/Business Manager of Local One in 1984. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

The Local One Pipes and Drums Band are recruiting new members for classes beginning in April. Band practice is held on Tuesdays from 5 P.M. to 6 P.M. at the union hall, located at 47-24 27thStreet L.I.C. NY. If you are interested but are unable to attend the April classes, let us know and we will keep in touch with you.

At present the band is composed of 7 pipers, 3 drummers and 1 bass drummer. Most of the band members have never had any musical training prior to joining the band. You will be taught how to read music and play the pipes or drums.

We are also in the process of forming a full color guard for carrying the banners and flags.

We are also available for weddings, funerals, anniversaries etc. Contact Tom Ginty for information on booking the band for your special occasion.

If you are interested or have any questions, please call Tom Ginty at 631-277-9164 or contact us at
